The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to do for man what man cannot by himself. By nature man is sinful! In Jesus saving man does not keep him from sinning but rather saves him from eternal judgement. Man's consistency in keeping away from that which hinders God is the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God reveals much yet also has the divine power to keep us from sinning. The believer gives reign to the Spirit for this to happen. Intimacy with Him reveals our desire and builds on just that. Even if the Spirit is involved in desiring God, there is always a measure of man's initiative! The more we allow the Holy Spirit reign in our lives the more deeper we are submerged in spiritual matters of a Heavenly kind! Wise is the man that gives total control to the Spirit of God for his spiritual maintenance.
